The creative Craft Fair and Cupcake War will take place at the Sycamore Park Community Center in Farmington Saturday, Feb. 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Everyone is invited! All ages are encouraged to attend and enjoy the free event. The pre-Valentine's day celebration will have something to offer for the whole family. Visitors are welcomed to shop at the fair for Valentine arts-and-crafts created by local artists.

Cupcake War contest is $5 to enter and creativity is the theme of the battle. Craft fair is $10 per booth space. Those interested in competing or being a craft vendor can contact the Community Center at 505-566-2480.

Struggling with coming up what kind of gift to give? Here’s an idea, the Farmington Animal Shelter is offering gift certificates for pet adoption.

The Pet Promise gift certificate will allow purchasers to pay the whole adoption fee towards the adoption costs of a cat, kitten, dog or puppy. The recipient may take their certificate to the Farmington Animal Services and choose the pet of their choice.

Tomorrow from 11am to 1pm Congressman Ben Ray Luján’s staff will be available for consultation and questioning throughout the Third District. The staff will hold Mobile Office Hours at four locations in Albuquerque, Shiprock, Wagon Mound, and El Rito.

Residents in need of casework assistance may visit any of the four locations to seek professional assistance and point of view. The staff will also be available for questions regarding Social Security benefits, immigration applications, veterans’ services, and other federal programs.

USDA helps rebuild New Mexico homes affected by fire

USDA helps rebuild New Mexico homes affected by fire

Community members in Aztec, Las Cruces, Las Vegas, Los Lunas and Roswell may apply for federal funding to assist in rebuilding or repairing the homes and community facilities affected by New Mexico wildfires.

USDA Rural Development State Director Terry Brunner announced the funding program yesterday, stating that the assistance is targeted at low-income New Mexico families.

“We want to make sure the public knows that USDA can provide financial support to low to moderate income homeowners who are victims of the recent wildfires.  As well, communities may apply for loan and grant funds to repair essential community facilities and acquire equipment needed for their recovery,” said Brunner.
